Rebecca L. MacLeod, M.S., LMHC, NCC

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, and a prior Certified Behavior Analyst for 18 years.  My Master of Science degree is in Clinical Psychology and I have worked in the mental health industry for 20 years in every setting imaginable.

My areas of specialty include couples work, eating disorders, abuse recovery, adolescent issues, women’s issues, and the challenges men face in modern relationships.  I am fully trained having had clients as young as six weeks as well as those in their later years.  I have a large student clientele where having someone to talk with outside of the family unit with healthy guidance is essential.  During the ages of 13-25 it is developmentally appropriate for individuals to separate from the family as they seek independence.  However, they are frequently faced with serious decisions and without a non-family party to go to, they turn to age mates who have no more experience and often faulty information.  I’ve found great success and closer family units overall when a well trained confidential outside party is utilized.

Wellness work is tailored to the needs of the client.  It is most important to me is understand your needs, and you are always in control of your own process.  I can help you find greater peace and life satisfaction by teaching you techniques that work and refining those based on your feedback.  You are truly successful at what you choose when you choose with intention.

Counseling can address so many unmet needs and deep longings, for example, loss, grief, and coping with depression or anxiety.  But the essential part of healing rests on the relationship between the client and the therapist.  I provide a safe therapeutic relationship where validation, connection, and a sense of attachment promote growth and enable you to generalize those feelings in your life.  My hope is to introduce a new way of relating and discovering one's potential for a more satisfying way of life.

My graduate training was obtained at Florida State University. I had the opportunity to work at Florida Hospital for 15 years and worked on every Unit in the hospital helping patients with a wide range of issues.  I completed two years of psychoanalytical training after licensure.  I attended Levels 1 and 2 EMDR training and use it to resolve trauma and promote healing and empowerment. In addition, I completed clinical training in marriage counseling using Emotional Focused Couples Therapy, a cutting edge model to treat couples in crisis.
